Even if one possesses the combination of well – developed assets and skills, with a consistent, true, positive attitude, he will never be able to achieve, to the best of his abilities, and in the best interests of his organization and stakeholders, until/ unless, he perceives of, creates, effectively develops and implements, a quality, relevant system, he will never make any difference, for the better! While these qualities are certainly important and necessary, they are only initial components, which must be considered thoroughly, and absorbed into a leader’s system, which should seek, to make a relevant, sustainable improvement! With this in mind, this article will briefly examine, and review, using the mnemonic approach, why the core of a leader’s SYSTEM, is so important and relevant.
1. Strengthen; stimulate:
If you don’t strengthen your organization, and improve the impact and performance, of how, your leadership, will make a difference, how will you be make a difference, for the better? A real leader must stimulate his constituents, in a meaningful, sustainable manner!
2. Your focus; yes; you:
Concentrate your focus, towards what’s best and most meaningful, for your organization! Will you say, yes, to what’s possible, or be afraid, to be a true leader? It’s always, up to you!
3. Sustainable; substance:
Avoid the temptation to take the easy approach, but objectively examine, and consider, the substance of your position and priorities! No one is a leader, unless he looks, beyond immediate, short – terms challenges and obstacles, and prioritizes, making a longer – term, sustainable difference, for the better!
The enemy of genuine leadership, is procrastination, and fear! One must consider issues, needs, concerns, priorities and ramifications, fully, and move beyond his personal comfort zone, in a well – considered, timely manner!
5. Empathy; energy; excellence:
Will you overcome your self – interest, and/ or personal agenda, and make the needs and priorities of others, your priority, while listening effectively, and learning from every experience, and, thus, exhibiting genuine empathy? Remember, you must inspire and motivate others, to get them more involved, and, this requires proceeding with the utmost, positive energy! Never settle for good – enough, but consistently demand, the highest degree of personal excellence!
6. Make mark; motivate; meaningful:
How will you assure, you make your mark, for the better? Will your term, in office, be meaningful and relevant? A true leader must do more than try, but must motivate, others to follow, and commit!
If you want to be a real leader, you must examine, and enhance the core of your SYSTEM. Will you make a real difference, for the better?
